“Marge, it’s 3 AM. Shouldn’t you be cooking or something?” Homer Simpson

I spent most my weekend cooking... Not eating... Just cooking... There’s times when I need to think and turn to the kitchen and just concoct all I can think of... For hours straight... I now have about 2 whole weeks worth of food...

I cooked a lamb and apricot tagine, a lamb and chickpea pilaf, I roasted beets for this salad I found on Dorie Greenspan’s blog... And as I turned the oven on... I kind of played with some pecans... Here’s what I did...

About 1 cup pecans
1 teaspoon olive oil
2 teaspoons agave nectar
freshly ground pepper
salt to taste
about 2 teaspoons lime zest

I mixed the nuts with it all, put them in the oven at 400° for about 10 minutes...
After they cooled I decided to mix them with ½ cup craisins...

So, maybe I should really give up using my mobile's cam...

I guess I will have to freeze all my surplus food now... Or something...

  1. I used to cook all day so that I'd have many meals for the week. I hate cooking Lena. I'm a good cook but I just hate doing it. So good for you! I wish my teen would cook more. She's a very good cook but has to be IN THE MOOD.
I haven't had lamb in forever and it's so good. You can't find it where we live. Maybe at a butcher shop somewhere but there aren't any of those nearby either. So for now I will pretend to remember how good that it is!
The nut mix sounded interesting, and your picture was fine! Love Di ♥

  2. I usually cook only what I'm going to eat... Unless it's a stew or something that takes very long, Di... I do find cooking relaxing, it helps me focus... When I'm troubled I'll head to the kitchen...
The nut mix was yummy... ate it all... :)
About the photo here... I truly should go back to using my real cam... (It's been sitting in my walk in for almost a year... Ouch...)

  3. I never used to enjoy cooking but lately I've done more and more of it. Instead of dreading the clean up, I feel good about showing myself some care and self nurturing. It's nice to think, wow, I cooked this! instead of thinking, gosh, wish this was a cheese stuffed pizza from down the street.
    Love, xoxo
